Fueling & Safety
Fuel purchased for Texas A&M University departmentally owned vehicles within the Bryan/College station area is to be purchased from
Fleet Services located on Agronomy Road.
The Fleet Services fueling facility is available 24 hours each day, seven days each week, 365 days each year.

State Fueling Regulations
Safety at the Pump
For your safety, we ask that you follow these precautions before and while fueling:
- No Smoking
- Turn off you vehicle’s engine
- Turn off cell phones and other electronic devices
- Discharge static before fueling
- Place portable fuel containers on ground before fueling
- Never allow children to use the pump
Fueling at Fleet Services
The fueling facility is equipped with 2 unleaded, 2 diesel and 2 high flow diesel pumps. A fuel key is used to collect the appropriate data for state reporting.
These keys are vehicle specific and should only be used to fuel the vehicle assigned to that key.
Fueling Outside of the Bryan/College Station Area
The state fuel card used to purchase fuel outside the area is the US Bank Voyager card. It is issued to a specific vehicle and cannot be used to fuel any other vehicle.
For convenience, each card is embossed with the vehicle number.
Fueling Instructions
- Each vehicle is assigned fuel key for fueling. This fuel data key is specific to the vehicle.
- Before exiting your vehicle, get the odometer meter reading and turn the vehicle off.
- Swipe the fuel key down on the main terminal. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- The digital screen above the keypad will prompt you for the vehicle’s mileage or hours.
Enter the mileage or hours without the tenth’s number (no decimal). Press Enter.
- Select pump. Press Enter.
- The fuel pump will then validate your key and make sure everything is working properly.
If it finds a problem with the key it will send a message to you such as “Invalid Meter” or “Invalid Key”.
If there is a problem with the key, bring the key into Fleet Services and the attendant there will correct the problem.
- Pull the fuel nozzle from the slot and raise the lever that it rests in.
- Fuel your vehicle.
If your vehicle is not equipped with a key, your vehicle is probably equipped with wireless technology.
In this case, you do not have to enter any info into the pump. The system will automatically validate and check mileage.
Just pull the fuel nozzle from the slot, raise the lever it rests in, press the on button, and fuel your vehicle.
For your convenience, there are gloves located at the fuel island to avoid getting fuel on your hands.
If there is a fuel spill, notify someone in the fuel office, and either they will assist you with the clean-up or will find someone to assist you.
Clean-up supplies are located in the cabinet at the north end of the fuel island.
If you are fueling after hours and no Fleet Service Center employee is present, obtain fuel spill clean-up supplies from the fuel spill supply cabinet.
Spill pads and other supplies are available to help contain the spill. After the spill is contained, call Environmental Health and Safety at 979.845.4311.
You will need to inform them of the spill and the location.
